The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Heart of America Wing announces the return of Warbirds in Flight World War II Air Expo Open House Sept. 29-30, 2018 at New Century AirCenter (IXD), presented by Johnson County Airport Commission.
This year’s show will feature the B-24 Diamond Lil, one of only two flying B-24s. Returning this year is the B-25 Show Me. Show Me was built right here in Kansas City at the Fairfax plant, where General Motors now builds cars. Also returning after being absent for several years is the TBM “Avenger.”.This is the type of plane President George H. W. Bush flew during WWI, becoming the youngest naval aviator at the time.
New this year is the Red Tails RISE ABOVE educational program. The group will provide beta test shows for the new dome theatres, designed to educate and inspire people of all ages with the history and lessons of the Tuskegee Airmen.
Admission charged at the gate: $10 per person, $5 children under 18, children under 10 are free. Advanced ride flights may be purchased on our website at https://www.kcghostsquadron.org/airshow for several World War II aircraft.
