Three Olathe police uniforms, handcuffs and a gun have gone missing from a residence in Spring Hill, and authorities want them back.
Detectives from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the theft of the items from an Olathe police officer’s residence in Spring Hill.
The theft is believed to have taken place between Nov. 18 and Nov. 24, when the homeowner was out of town.
He discovered the theft on Nov. 25 and contacted the sheriff’s office.
According to Tom Erickson, public information officer for the sheriff’s office, “detectives with the sheriff’s office are interviewing numerous people in connection to the theft however currently do not have any suspects.”
Erickson recommends that citizens who are unsure about the authenticity of a police officer ask for the officer’s official identification.
If that is unsuccessful, the “officer” should be reported to 911.
Anyone with knowledge about the theft or the whereabouts of the stolen police equipment is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (913) 715-5560 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
