A 33-0 first-round state 4A playoff loss at Piper High School brought the season to a close for Coach Anthony Orrick and the Spring Hill High School Broncos.
Piper jumped to a 26-0 first-half lead and never looked back en route to the playoff win.
The loss failed to overshadow another great season for the Broncos. Coach Orrick guided his group to its third straight 4A playoff appearance with a 4-6 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the district.
“This was a great group of seniors which made it to a record three straight playoff appearances,” said Orrick. “They will be missed.”
Despite the loss, Spring Hill accumulated 194 yards of offense. Senior quarterback Ryker Johnson connected on three of 17 passes for 59 yards. His favorite target was Charles Elam, who hauled in two catches for 20 yards. Ivan Hughes grabbed one catch for 39 yards.
On the ground, Tyus Heinrich carried 15 times for 90 yards, while Elam had six totes for 25 yards. Brad Smith carried six times for 19 yards.
