Blue Valley Southwest High School scored in the final seconds of the game to defeat the Spring Hill High School Bronco varsity boys 55-53 on Dec. 14.
Southwest’s final score with just 11 seconds remaining spelled doom for the Bronco squad in the non-conference game.
Spring Hill had one last chance in the closing seconds, but could not cash-in on a 17-footer.
“It was an extremely disappointing loss,” said SHHS Coach Wes Book. “But the kids really battled back from a 20-5 first-half deficit and never quit.”
Despite the loss, Spring Hill got 15 points from Danny Hodge and 12 points from Tyus Heinrich. Ivan Hughes scored eight points, and Trey Heinrich netted six. Other scorers included Chance Hollern with four points, Ryker Johnson with five, and Charles Elam with two points.
