Outscored 13-4 in the second quarter, the Pioneer Ridge Middle School seventh grade varsity basketball team dropped a 37-27 decision at Paola last week.
Pioneer Ridge, 5-2, led 8-5 after one quarter, but headed to halftime down 18-12. From there, the home standing Panthers added 19 second half points to secure the victory.
“We struggled in the second quarter and allowed Paola to regain the lead,” said Coach Jeff Davidson. “Paola knocked down some shots.”
Despite the loss, Braden Smith had 11 points, while Tyler Butash and Connor Wisecup had six each. Caleb Bliss and Avery Pillow had two points apiece.
