USD 231 Board of Education members voted to extend the contract of
Superintendent Bill Gilhaus at the board’s Feb. 7 meeting.
Gilhaus’s contract with the school district now ends in June 2014. According to Lisa Berg, clerk of the board, Gilhaus has served as superintendent since August 2004. His current annual salary is $173,929, and the contract extension does not include a pay raise.
Board members also voted to extend the contracts of USD 231’s administrators for the 2011-12 school year. One of the administrators, Bill Miller, director of operations, planning and design for the school district, recently tendered his resignation to the board. Miller will continue to serve the school district until the end of this academic year.
In other business, the board:
* Heard a presentation on the school district’s Fiscal Year 2010 audit from Finance Director Eric Hansen.
* Approved an out-of-state field trip request for GEHS Spanish students to attend a foreign language film festival on April 1 in Warrensburg, Mo.
* Joined Gilhaus in recognizing several Students of Character, including fourth-grader Baylor Maxwell of Edgerton Elementary, third-grader Nicholas Allen of Gardner Elementary, second-grader Dylan Scott of Madison Elementary, kindergartner Landon Comstock of Moonlight Elementary, second-grader Samuel Groefsema of Nike Elementary, second-grader Avery Karlin of Sunflower Elementary, fifth-grader Courtney Cox of Pioneer Ridge Middle School, seventh-grader Abbie Lane of Wheatridge Middle School and sophomore Jamain Lang of Gardner Edgerton High School.
