An Olathe man was taken to the hospital following an airplane accident at Gardner Municipal Airport on Sept. 28.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Edward M. VanMorlan had taken off in a Cessna 172R at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30. As the aircraft was banking, the engine cut off and the plane fell approximately 300 feet. It struck the ground nose first. At impact, the Cessna rotated and came to rest on its wheels.
VanMorland, 69, was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital following the injury accident.
