Jean Atteberry Johnson, 94, of Gardner, passed away October 26, 2014 at Wellsville Retirement Community.
Jean was born February 3, 1920 in Halstead, Kan. to Marion and Edna (Atteberry) Cofer. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1938. After marriage Jean moved to rural Burrton then to Hutchinson in 1986 and to Gardner in 2005.
She was a school bus driver for the Haven School District for about 30 years. Jean enjoyed artwork, especially painting glass insulators and making etchings. She was a gardener with violets being her specialty. Jean was a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Burrton and Edgerton Methodist Church, Edgerton, KS. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Chester Hoskinson, Perry Potter and Karl Johnson; sons: Joe and Jon Hoskinson; brother, Donald Cofer and sister, Marion Roth. Jean is survived by her son, James and wife Susan Hoskinson, Gardner, KS; grandchildren: Mitchell Hoskinson and Devon Oder and great-grandchildren: Bailey Hoskinson and Piper Oder.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 am Sat., November 1, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Graveside service will be held at Burrton Cemetery, Burrton, KS.
