Harry Marvin Sullivan, Jr., 84, of Tonganoxie, KS, and formerly of Gardner, KS, passed away September 11, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS.
Harry was born January 1, 1926 in Lansing, KS to Harry Marvin Sullivan, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Mahanes) Sullivan. He graduated from Argentine High School. Harry served in the US Navy. Harry married V. Ruth (Hill) Amego on May 30, 1975 in De Soto. He worked 30 years for Griffin Wheel Co. in KC, KS, retiring in 1986 as a melting foreman. He was a member of West Haven Baptist Church and a former member of De Soto Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. Harry was a member of the VFW in De Soto, Good Sam Stanley Steamers Camper Club, and Country Kickers Square Dancers. An avid sports fan, KU Jayhawks were his passion. Harry loved his family, especially the grandkids. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, and son Wayne LeRoy Sullivan. Harry is survived by children Sharon L. and husband Jack Nichelson of KC, MO, Donna L. and husband Jerry Gambrill of Tonganoxie, Linda M. and husband Terry Dowding of Lawrence, and Steven and wife Susan Amego of Leavenworth; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter, step-brothers Charles Morris Sullivan and Marion Jones.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at West Haven Baptist Church, 1000 West St, Tonganoxie, KS 66086, 913-369-9422. Burial will follow at De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, KS.
