The city’s second annual Grand Slam, hit a home run Sept. 28.
The adult-only event, which features live music and beverages, sold more than 1,000 tickets. Grand Slam was from 7 to 10 p.m. at Celebration Park.
“This year we introduced an even greater variety of beverages,” said Daneeka Marshall-Oquendo, Gardner public information officer. “We added distilleries as well as non-alcoholic craft sodas. In addition, we had the food catered by Smoke N Babes BBQ, who provided appetizer stations throughout the area. I would say the greatest highlight was seeing the community come together.”
“This is another opportunity to showcase Gardner and all it has to offer to visitors and businesses as well as our community – we had guests from as far as Oklahoma attending as well as people from all over the greater KC metro,” Marshall-Oquendo said. “It is events like these that help improve the quality of life for our citizens and attract potential new residents and businesses.”
Participants received a commemorative sample glass and a program with descriptions of all beverages on site. Catered appetizers were provided by Smoke N Babes and The Zeros entertained.
Free shuttle service was provided from Gardner Edgerton High School to Celebration Park. Marshall-Oquendo said there were no reported traffic problems.
