This weekend the Gardner Edgerton High School volleyball B team competed in a tournament at Turner High. Our day started with a game against St. James. The first period started out slow with a final score of 13-25. Heading into the second period was rough for our lady Blazers as they fought to stay awake on the court (it was an early morning for some of these ladies). Unfortunately, the match resulted in a loss during the second period with a final score of 10-25.
Our next game against De Soto was one for the books. Our lady Blazers pushed hard for the W, ultimately ending with a loss in two periods with final scores of 26-28 and 25-18. The Blazer ladies played again an hour later against Eudora. After the game against De Soto, the girls kept their energy high against this comparable team, but ultimately fell in two periods with final scores in both periods of 18-25 and 18-25. This placed our Blazer ladies in fourth place for their pool going into the final bracket play for the day.
The ladies ended their day with games against Piper and Bonner Springs. With our motivation at an all time high, our lady Blazers’ outstanding teamwork earned them a win for the day against Piper, with final scores in two periods of 25-15 and 25-20. This pushed our ladies into their last game for the day against Bonner. We played an amazing game, but it just wasn’t enough to beat this skilled team. The match resulted in a loss in two periods with final scores of 23-25 and 20-25.
