With just one week remaining on the season, the Gardner Ice 18-and-under softball team has an impressive 4-4 record in the Blue Valley League.
In league play on July 19, the Ice split doubleheader action. In game one, the Ice defeated the Atchison Stingers 13-1.
“The team played very good defense and were aggressive on the base paths,” said Coach Steve Adamson. “I was really proud of the effort.”
In game two, the Ice lost a hard fought 5-4 contest to the Stingers.
“The Stingers have the best league record, and we played them well the entire game,” added Adamson.
Outside of league play, the Ice brought home a third place trophy from the 18-and-under tournament in Blue Valley on July 4.
