Edgerton is changing trash collection companies. That could lead to confusion in the upcoming weeks as a contract between the city and Defenbaugh expires and the city enters an agreement with Gardner Disposal.
“Edgerton residents will begin to see Gardner Disposal carts showing up,” city administrator Beth Linn said.
Defenbaugh will do a final trash collection on Dec. 22. Gardner Disposal will do its first pick-up on Dec. 31. Though the two disposal contracts will overlap by one day, starting Gardner Disposal’s contract one day before the new year will ensure that Edgerton residents do not have a gap in service.
Linn said Edgerton residents should begin using Gardner Disposal trash carts on Dec. 31.
Residents who want additional carts or collection beyond what the city provides should call city hall.
Edgerton council members approved a contract with Gardner Disposal during a Dec. 11 council meeting.
