Charles Scott “Charlie” Ryals, 90, of Gardner, Kan., passed away March 30, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center.

Charlie was born Oct. 8, 1921 in Moody, Okla. to Charles Landon and Leola (Gormley) Ryals. He grew up in Tahlequah, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Charlie married Maxine Elizabeth Harper in 1944 in Muskogee, Okla. They moved to Lenexa in 1949 where Charlie completed electronic training and opened Ryals TV in Olathe. He then worked for Sears as a TV Electronics Technician for 15 years and in 1970’s they moved to Gardner.

He loved to garden and share his produce. Charlie was a bee keeper and harvested honey.

He was an active member of the Gardner Lion’s Club, a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Lenexa and a member of the Abdallah Shriners. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Olathe. Charlie will be dearly missed by his family and community.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Calvin.

Charlie is survived by his wife Maxine, of the home; son Charles Stephen Ryals and Karen of Olathe, Kan.; daughter Marsha Harjo and Kenneth of Muskogee, Okla.; brother Clyde Ryals of Wagoner, Okla.; grandchildren Jeannie, Jeffrey, Scott and Ryan; and six great grandchildren.

Graveside Inurnment Memorial Service with Military Honors will be11 a.m., April 6, 2012 at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111.
