It’s been quite a season for sophomore Dylan Brenneman and the Spring Hill High School cross country team.
Brenneman recently placed fourth at the 4A Kansas state cross country meet at in Wamego, Kan. He also took runner-up honors at the Frontier League meet and 4A regional. He placed in the top five in every meet this season, and he holds the fastest time ever by a Spring Hill runner at the state meet with a 5k time of 16:38 minutes.
Those achievements earned Brenneman Tri-County Spotlight Runner of the Year.
“Dylan had learned quite a bit about tactical running over the course of last year,” said SHHS Coach Brent Smitheran. “He is getting better at knowing when to respond and when to be patient in the races. He had really improved his cardiovascular ability through logging long miles.”
Brenneman will now turn his attention to his AAU cross country team and will compete in the national meet.
After that, Brenneman will get ready for the spring track and field season at Spring Hill High School.
Dylan is the son of Charlie and Monica Brenneman of Spring Hill.
