After a short holiday break, the Blazer boys basketball teams resumed their EKL schedule at Blue Valley North this week.
GEHS, 1-3, got its first win of the season turning back Blue Valley Southwest 48-44 just before the break.
“The kids really stepped up their defensive effort and rebounding,” said Coach Jeff Langrehr. “We showed signs of believing in ourselves, and challenging our opponents.”
In the Southwest win, GEHS played without the services of starters Jacob Garrett, senior Jordan McIntire and freshman postman Luke Soza.
Soza suffered a broken hand and is likely out for the season.
“Luke had began playing varsity minutes and was showing great promise. All three players were part of our front court and we played an extremely tall Southwest team,” said Langrehr.
Langrehr added: “This team continues to work hard in practice and will be competitive for the rest of the season.
