The Blazers varsity boys basketball team pushed highly ranked Blue Valley for three quarters, but dropped a hard fought 54-40 last Friday night at Blue Valley.
GEHS held a 6-5 first quarter lead and trailed just 23-20 at halftime. But Blue Valley regrouped and outscored GEHS 16-5 in the third quarter to take control.
“We were able to muster a couple of second half runs, but could not overcome some solid Tiger free throw shooting and defense,” said Coach Jeff Langrehr.
Despite the loss, Devan Toomey and Bryson Rohr accounted for 27 of the Blazers 40 points. Toomey had 14 and Rohr, 13.
Other scorers included Nate Wagner, six points, Hunter Boyt, four points, and Jordan McIntyre, three points.
Now 4-9, GEHS hosts Blue Valley West in another EKL contest this week.
