Fall ended with a burst of color. These photos depict the leaves in downtown Gardner at their brightest just days before Halloween. Officially autumn began on Sept. 22.
Winter doesn’t begin until Dec. 23, but locals may beg to differ. Following a day of in the low 70s on Nov. 10, the temperature plummeted on Nov. 11 to well below freezing and light flurries dusted the ground thanks to a polar vortex that settled over North America. The cool is expected to stick around for at least a week.
