It took three overtimes, but the Gardner Edgerton High School Blazer freshman boys basketball team lost a heartbreaking 59-56 decision to Piper High School in first round action of the Lansing tournament last week.
GEHS led 13-3 after one quarter and went up 25-20 by halftime.
But Piper made adjustments at the half, netting 28 second half points to send the game into overtime. From there, Piper needed three overtimes to slay the Blazers.
Despite the loss, Ben Schneider and Tydus Webb had 15 points each. Jace Sprague had 12 points.
