A brief meeting was held between USD 231 administration and GENEA’s lead negotiators to exchange “notice letters” as required by Kansas statute.
Statute requires the letters, outlining the items each side intends to raise during the annual negotiations, be exchanged by March 3. The meeting also allowed both sides to request access to information and data (e.g., survey results, total staff numbers, positions, etc.) which helps the process along.
In addition, the informal meeting allowed both the teams the opportunity to discuss an overall target timeline for concluding the negotiations process, and as important, identify potential dates for the first official meeting – to be set for early to mid-April. The official meetings will include all members from both teams and are considered open meetings.
The time/date of this first formal meeting will be announced once it has been established.
