Coach Derek Wilson
Last week the bowlers headed to Olathe Lanes East for the regional tournament.
We got paired up in as tough of a bracket as there was, said Derek Wilson, coach. The boys bowled fairly well but ultimately came in fifth place. It was a great season as we won multiple meets and had several individual top scores as well.
Zach Reynolds made it to state as an individual with a series score of 609. He will head down to Wichita for the state tournament.
Our most consistent bowler all season, Ian Carpenter, missed out for back to back state appearances by only 11 pins, said Wilson. I was going to run down the lane and kick a few more down for him but Coach Osborn advised me that was highly frowned upon in the bowling world.
The girls were down to just for bowlers at regionals so that made it pretty tough to realistically compete for a spot as a team. In Bakers bowling you must have five bowlers so every game we had to take zeros for two frames. They all individually bowled well but unfortunately we did not qualify anyone for state.
It was an incredibly fun season that with new rules because of COVID, actually allowed us to be together more as a team this year so it was great getting to be around them so much as a group, coach said. We will lose a couple very good bowlers this year but bring back a lot of the team so we will be ready to go next year.
