Coach Amy Stubblefield
The JV and Varsity basketball teams each walked away with wins on Jan 9 as we traveled to Lawrence Free State.  The JV is now 5-0 and our varsity girls are 3-2.
The JV had an impressive defensive performance as LFS had no answer for our pressure.  Free State had trouble getting it past the three point line on most possessions.  Everyone on the team scored, which was fun to watch.  Ava Baker was on fire, hitting four three pointers and finishing with 16 points total.  Sariyah Williams had 15 points in only two quarters.  Brenley Cunningham had eight and Aaliyah Green had six.  Final score was 60-29.
The varsity had a dominating first quarter and outscored FS 25-5.  We never looked back from that point.  Kiersten Markos had her best game yet, falling one rebound short of a double double with 10 points and nine rebounds.  Sofia Semon led us in scoring with 16 points.  Abri Leiker led us on the defensive side with three steals.  Saige Lickteig and Kaylah Newman had the task of defending their DI guard and did a great job containing her.  The final score was 56-41.
This is a busy week for our girls, Amy Stubblefield, coach, said.
