Due to the Lane County, Kan., fire no longer needing the additional resources, the Johnson County Wildland Fire Task Force and Air Tanker 95 have been released and will be staged in the area should they be requested to assist. The Johnson County Wildland Fire Task Force, Air Tanker 95 and wildland fire personnel from the Kansas Forest Service have been requested to assist on a wildfire burning in Lane County, Kan. Gov. Laura Kellyissued a State of Disaster Emergency due to the widespread risk of wildfire across Kansas on Jan. 14 and 15. Kansas Forest Service and Kansas Division of Emergency Management coordinated with the Johnson County Wildland Fire Task Force to preposition their resources in Great Bend. Additionally, the Douglas County Wildland Fire Task Force was made ready to respond to wildfires as needed. Air resources were on standby including Air Tanker 95 in Hutchinson and agricultural pilots based out of Ulysses, Syracuse and Seneca.
