Some Grand Star Elementary parents were surprised last week when students came home with a note that the school was closing three days early, prior to the holiday.
“This action was taken based on recommendations provided by the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment related to multiple positive COVID-19 cases in the building,” said Ben Boothe, USD 231 director of community relations.
Grand Star Elementary is located at 401 E. Grand, Gardner, and, according to the district’s website, has 407 total students and 56 full time teachers.
E mails asking for additional information were not responded to by press time.
