A new season of Animal Tales Storytime will begin Jan. 5 at the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s Ernie Miller Nature Center in Olathe. Physical distancing and COVID-19 safe practices will be encouraged during these programs.
This popular program invites young children and their parents to come listen and learn during any or all of the 16 sessions scheduled on select Tuesdays and Wednesdays through April. All sessions begin at 10:30 a.m.
Animal Tales Storytime is for ages two to six. All children must be accompanied by an adult. This program will feature stories, songs, and surprises. Participants will also get to meet a special animal friend at each session. To find these programs in the district’s online listings at JCPRD.com/Activities, browse first under preschool and then under nature & outdoors. When using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “storytime.”
Storytime presentations this season include:  “Up All Night” on Jan. 5 (activity number 7782) and Jan. 6 (activity number 7783); “Winter Tales” on Jan. 19 (activity number 7784) and Jan. 20 (activity number 7785); “B is for Birds on Feb. 2 (activity number 7786) and Feb. 3 (activity number 7787); “Teddy Bear Surprise” on Feb. 16 (activity number 7788) and Feb. 17 (activity number 7789); “Who’s There?” on March 2 (activity number 7790) and March 3 (activity number 7791); “Meet the Mammals” on March 30 (activity number 7792) and March 31 (activity number 7793), “Itsy Bitsy Spider” on April 13 (activity number 7794) and April 14 (activity number 7795), and “Mother Nature” on April 27 (activity number 7796) and April 28 (activity number 7797).
The cost per 30-minute session is $2 per person, including adults. While drop-in attendance was encouraged for this program in the past, because of coronavirus, advance registration is now required.
