Twenty-four years ago on Dec. 7, 1996, 15-year-old Tawnya Knight was seen alive for the last time by an acquaintance in Spring Hill. Her skeletonized remains were found in a field in Spring Hill six months later on June 7, 1997. The Johnson County Coroner ruled this case a homicide.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, still working on leads and still examining evidence. Tawnya’s family and friends deserve closure and continue to seek information from that one person who knows what happened.
