The FBI is warning of potential scams involving the pending stimulus checks being issued by the US government to most Americans, because of the financial affects of the coronavirus on the economy.
Do not fall for phone calls, texts, emails or websites that ask for personal or financial information in order to receive the $1,200 federal payment. Checks will either be mailed directly to you, or direct deposited into a bank account of yours, if you have conducted business with the IRS recently via direct deposit. Do not give out your personal information to anyone via phone or email, and do not pay anyone that says they can expedite receipt of your federal check/deposit.
