Jeff Laurendeau, Amazon general manager, and associates from the Edgerton fulfillment center presented a $15,000 check to Pam Stranathan, USD 231 superintendent of schools, and Amy Droegemeier, nutrition services director. The donation will finance GE district’s Summer Breakfast and Lunch program, which serves free meals to any child or teen, from zero to eighteen years old, who resides in the district and recently lost funding.
“This generous donation will be instrumental in assisting USD 231 to continue to serve the Gardner and Edgerton communities by providing healthy, nutritious meals for students during the summer months. Over the past 10 years, USD 231 summer meal sites have become the place for children to gather with their friends when school is out of session,” said Amy Droegemeier, director of nutrition services for USD 231.
“While the community continues to grow, hunger and need still exist in our community – especially where students are concerned. We are grateful for the investment that Amazon is making not only in our local economy but also in the health and well-being of our students.”
