Travel to the beautiful Warm Springs Ranch, headquarters of the Budweiser Clydesdale breeding operation, during a mid-April day trip being offered by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District. Centuries of Transportation is the name of this trip, which will take travelers to see the amazing Budweiser Clydesdales up close and personal at the Warm Springs Ranch east of Boonville, Mo. See the adorable new colts and learn about these beautiful creatures. Enjoy lunch at local favorite Maggie’s Bar & Grill in Boonville. Then learn the story of the Mitchell Motor Car Company during a guided tour of the Lewis Miller’s Mitchell Collection, also in Boonville. See how this company, which grew with the changes in transportation starting with the wagon, then the bicycle, motorcycles, and finally the automobile, produced automobiles in Racine, Wisc., from 1903 to 1923.
Participants will depart for the Centuries of Transportation trip from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, at 7:30 a.m., April 15, and return at approximately 5 p.m. that day. The cost is $86 per person for transportation, tours, and lunch. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359.
