Robert Cook, longtime Gardner resident and business owner, along with Jim Dean and Bob Hult of Olathe, traveled to Calif to participate in the David Mann Chopperfest. Cook passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 17. Arrangements will be on www.gardnernews.com when available.
David Mann was an artist from Kansas City. He has a mural on the wall of the Red Eye Bar located in Kansas City KS. The Chopperfest is held every year in his honor. This was the 15th year of the event, with entries from all over the United States including Hawaii.
The custom motorcycles were taken by trailer to the event from here. Some entrants choose to ride them in instead. There were approximately 300 entries in various classes. Everyone walked away with recognition for entry ribbon.
While in Ventura Calif, the guys stayed in renovated air stream campers located in a park, just off the beach.
This year the David Mann Chopperfest will be held on Dec 8, 2019 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Calif. More info can be found online.
