Gardner has issued a Request for Proposals for the Moonlight Road Safe Routes to Schools Project.
The sidewalk network along and adjacent to Moonlight Road from Warren Street south to White Drive needs gaps filled and inadequate facilities replaced.
“The scope of the project is to complete gaps in our sidewalk/trail system along Moonlight Road from Warren Street to White Drive,” said Daneeka Marshall-Oquendo, public information officer.
The purpose is to offer connectivity and safer travel for pedestrian traffic, particularly for students attending Moonlight Elementary.
The estimated project cost is $400,000. The Kansas Department of Transportation will provide up to $252,000 of the cost. Construction is expected to begin in early 2020.
The design will include ADA compliance and pavement marking as needed. Map of project:
