USD 231 will spend $514,156 on roof replacement and improvements at three schools this summer.
The school board during its Jan. 14 meeting approved a $293,116 bid by Premier Contracting Inc., for a new PVC membrane roof covering of approximately 15,500 square feet at the Gardner Edgerton High School.
Bruce Kracl, director of operations, told the board that the February 2016 bond referendum included infrastructure projects outlining roofing and building improvements.
The improvements at the Gardner Edgerton High School will include the metal roof areas located above the extended commons, library and north entrance of the school.
The board also approved a $161, 385 bid by Premier Contracting Inc., to fix six small areas totaling 5,700 square feet at Wheatridge Elementary school. Kracl said funding for the project was allocated from the 2016 bond money.
Madison Elementary will also benefit from a new roof this summer after the board approved a 59,655 bid by Cedar Ridge Roofing Inc., to replace shingles on approximately 18,600 square feet roof.
Kracl said that the projects and accompanying bids had been approved by the construction committee on Jan. 3.
