The Jan. 12 snowstorm created piles of mulch – with a lot of help from city and Johnson County crews.
“Citizens dropped off approximately 400 pickup truck loads of debris during the two weekends the tree and brush drop off site was provided,” said Michael Kramer, Gardner public works director.
Brush was dropped off at the Johnson County Fairgrounds and was then chipped. The public works and parks department staff spent about 289 hours chipping the mulch.
“We provided this service in partnership with Johnson County Public Works who provided additional equipment and man hours,” Kramer said.
The mulch will be used by the Johnson County Fair Board.
