Election day is approaching.
Advance voting by mail in Johnson County began Oct. 17.  The deadline to apply for an advance voting by mail ballot was Oct. 30.  Ballots may be returned by mail or hand-delivered to any advance voting location or Election Day polling site during voting hours or to the Election Office by 7 p.m., Nov. 6.
In order for a mailed ballot to count, the ballot must be postmarked on or before the date of the election and received by the third day following the date of the election, unless additional time is permitted by the secretary of state.
Advance voting in person  began Oct. 22  at six locations:
•Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park.
•Hilltop Conference Center, 7700 W. 143rd St., Overland Park.
•Johnson County Northeast Offices, 6000 Lamar Ave., Mission.
•Johnson County Sunset Office Building, 11811 Sunset Drive, Olathe.
•Okun Fieldhouse, 20200 Johnson Drive, Shawnee.
•Johnson County Election Office, 2101 E. Kansas City Road, Olathe.
Advance voting hours vary by location and by date, so check the Election Office website before heading to the polls.
The last day for advance voting in person at the Election Office is Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Voting polls on Election Day, Nov. 6, open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
RideKC routes will offer free fares all day on Nov. 6 to make it easier for citizens to vote. On Election Day, fares on all RideKC bus routes serving Kansas City, Johnson County, Wyandotte County and Independence will be free. KCATA, Johnson County and Independence paratransit will also be free to ride.
