This weekend the Blazer volleyball B team competed in a tournament at Blue Valley West. The day officially started at 8:40 a.m. with a game against Shawnee Mission Northwest. The first period started out slow with a final score of 11-25, but with helpful serves from Riley Proctor and Kylee Nguyen, and spectacular digs from Harley Pruetting and Kenady Kares, the ladies looked like they might overtake SMNW. Ultimately, the match resulted in a loss during the second period with a final score of 20-25.
The next game against Blue Valley Northwest was one for the books. Hannah Bunch carried the team forward with 13 consecutive points scored while serving, and Olivia Spillane and Jamie Pemberton consecutively executed their offensive kills. The final scores for both periods were 25-8 and 25-15. Due to amazing teamwork, strong sets by Grace Davis, and the consistent hustle of both Kylie Jacobs and Elyea Soileau, the Blazer ladies scored their second win for the day against Olathe East with final scores of 25-15 and 25-19. This placed our Blazer ladies in second place for their pool going into the final matches for the day.
The ladies ended their day with games against Olathe South and De Soto. As motivation faltered, so did game play. These games were a rough end to the day for our Blazer ladies with immense losses against both teams.
Out of a total 12 teams, the Blazer ladies left BVW in the 6th place spot. Lindsey Eck
