The City of Olathe, Public works and Johnson County, Planning, Development and Codes, in accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation 65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of the City and County’s intent to revise the flood hazard information for Coffee Creek, generally located between 167th and 175th Streets, and between Ridgeview and Hallet Streets. The flood hazard revisions are being proposed as part of Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) Case No. 18-07-1445R for a proposed project along Coffee Creek. The City of Olathe is proposing to construct roadway embankments with culverts for future extensions of Brougham Drive and Lindenwood Drive south of 167th Street, to address downstream street and structure flooding. Once the project has been completed, a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) request should be submitted that will, in part, revise the following flood hazards along Coffee Creek:
1. The floodway will be revised from Hallet Street to Ridgeview Street along Coffee Creek.
2. Base Flood Elevations (BFEs) along Coffee Creek will be revised. The current BFEs will increase immediately upstream (west) of the proposed embankments at Brougham Drive and Lindenwood Drive and the City of Olathe has ownership over these impacted areas. In all other areas of the project, the BFEs will decrease.
Maps and detailed analysis of the revision can be reviewed at the Olathe Municipal Services and Public Works at 1385 South Robinson Drive, Olathe, Kansas 66061. Interested persons may call Matt Kapfer (Project Manager) at 913-971-9004 or Rob Beilfuss (Olathe Floodplain Administrator) at 913-971-9071 for additional information.
