Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, collects shoeboxes filled with school supplies, hygiene items, toys, etc. The shoeboxes are then delivered to children around the world who are in need. The charity project is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. In 2017, over 11 million shoeboxes were collected worldwide. More than 675,000 shoeboxes were collected in the Lower Midwest region alone. The church recognition award was presented to the church during their morning service on Aug. 5 by Pat Miller, Kansas City’s Southern Region Area Coordinator, who also provided words of thanks for the church’s service and dedication.
