The Gardner Police Department and their certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians offered free car seat inspections and education to parents and caregivers on Sept. 23 at The Gardner Aquatic Center at 215 N. Center. The event was part of National Seat Check Saturday, and included instruction on how to choose the right car seats for children, with an emphasis on how to install and use them correctly. Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13. Many times, deaths and injuries can be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters and seat belts.
