Registration deadline for this year’s Johnson County Fair parade to be held on Aug. 5, is 5 p.m. on Aug. 2. Late entries will be allowed to participate but will not be judged or their description announced. The parade is sponsored by the Gardner Edgerton Chamber of Commerce.
Meghan McDermott, chamber member relations manager, said after meeting with the police department and the fire department it was decided the parade will have the same route as previous years.
”It will start on Sycamore, go down Main, take a right on Pine, another right on Washington, right on Walnut, and a left on Shawnee where it will be led back to where it began on Sycamore,” she said.
This year’s Grand Marshall is Jim Dean. The parade will be broadcast live on TV25, according to Jason Camis, GE president.
Check in at registration for the parade is between 8 – 9:30 a.m. Aug. 5 at the Wheatridge Wrestling Building (across from the USD #231 district office.)
Parade classifications include: musical organizations, horse and rider, horse drawn vehicle, saddle club, organization float – adult, student, 4-H and commercial – vehicles, tractor, non profit organizations and political.

A float is defined as any entry that is decorated, movable on at least four wheels, and pulled by any vehicle. ). Participants must provide proof of insurance on all vehicles at registration.
