Former GEHS standout Cassie Wait continues to make her mark as a member of the Kansas Jayhawk volleyball team.
Just last week, Wait was the Big 12 coach’s unanimous decision for libero of the year. She is the first Jayhawk to be named Libero of the year.
Wait, a first year student in KU’s School of Law, ranks second in career digs at KU. She was a three-time 2016 Big 12 player of the week and is also a Cosida Academic All-District honoree.
Wait was also recently named the Big 12 volleyball Scholar Athlete of the year. She is the second Jayhawk to earn the honor.
Scholar athletes of the year nominees must be a junior or senior athlete, have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and participate in at least sixty percent of the team’s scheduled contests.
Her efforts led KU to a 27-3 overall record. The team advanced to the NCAA tournament, beat Samford and then lost to Creighton in three sets.
She is the daughter of Darrell and Linda Wait of Gardner.
