Several Blazer soccer players recently earned league and individual awards last week.
Earning a first team All-EKL award was Sam Mayeske, while tanner Richardson was named to the second team. Jansen Ahrens earned an honorable mention. Mayeske also received honorable mention All-State honors for 6A.
Academically, Aaron Vanvleet was named to the First Team Kansas Soccer Coaches Association with a GPA of 3.8.
Outstanding All Academic awards went to Ahrens, Dylan Mars, Tanner Peine, and Tanner Richardson with GPA’s of 3.5 to 3.79.
Distinguished academic awards went to Colten Bryan, Mitchell Thompson, Austyn Hatton and Mayeske.
Mars also earned the National Soccer Coaches Association senior excellence award.
GEHS closed the season at 5-11-1, but allowed less goals as a team than last year.
Mayeske graduates fourth all-time in career varsity points (47). He had eight goals and three assists this season and 17 goals and 13 assists during his career.
Season leaders were Mayeske (eight goals, three assists, 19 points), Aarons, Richardson and Rees Taylor had three goals apiece and Hatton was the assist leader with four points.
