Sofia Rivera had already had her picture taken with Santa, but insisted on giving Santa and Mrs. Claus one more hug when her Mom said it was time to leave the Breakfast with Santa event on Dec. 10.

About 300 attended Breakfast at the Northpole with Santa and Mrs. Claus on the Johnson County Fairgrounds Dec. 13.
The Claus’ were only in town for the brief breakfast, according to Daneeka Marshall-Oquendo, Gardner public information officer.
“They arrived via their sleigh, of course,” Marshall-Oquendo said.
Although there were several unconfirmed reindeer sightings by area youth, Marshall-Oquendo offered assurances that any animals that may have arrived would have been well cared for during the Claus’ visit.
“We received special permission to have them at the GPRD shop,” Marshall-Oquendo said. “They loved it since it was so close to the event, they didn’t need to travel so far that morning.”
While at the breakfast, youth made Snowman Soup as their craft project to take home.
