Volunteers and employees of the Johnson County Sheriff’s office collected a toys & food Dec. 10. Donations were received at several locations during the annual Johnson County Public Safety Food and Toy Drive. Items received were sorted and will be given to approximately 200 families with 563 children. Each family will receive three or more toys and a gift card for a meal. The event was founded in 2003 by law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics and caring community members. Deputies and Citizen Academy graduate volunteers as well as the Olathe PD and Gardner PD and Fire were also involved during the event.
