Julia “Julie” Ann Page passed away December 8, 2016 surrounded by her family.
Julie was born in Atchison Co., Kan on November 6, 1932 to the late George E. Adams and Opal A. Adams. Julie attended Emporia State Teachers College, received her teaching certificate and taught elementary school in Harrington, Kan. Upon her marriage to Bob, she moved to Gardner and helped him in his business, Page Oil Company, for many years. While her children were young, she worked as a substitute teacher in the Gardner School District and as a secretary at Nike Junior High and also in the Gardner Superintendent’s Office; she retired after 23 years. Julie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gardner for 61 years, a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Gardner Study Club/Athena Club. She enjoyed over 40 years of playing Bridge and Pinochle with friends in Gardner. Her retirement years were spent going to her grandchildren’s activities, sporting events, concerts and plays.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert (Bob) Page; siblings: George E. Adams Jr., Charlene Stanberry, Blair K. Adams and Samuel Adams who passed away as an infant. Julie leaves behind two children: Rob Page (Tammy) of Overland Park and Stephanie Goucher (Sam) of Lenexa, Kan. She had five grandchildren: Haley Goucher Miranda (Dave) of KCMO, Jeremy Page (Afton) of Overland Park, Melissa Goucher of Overland Park and Griffin and Cooper Page of St. Louis, Mo. Julie was also fortunate to have a loving step-daughter, Lynn Garrety and her family in Oxnard, Calif.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who provided care to her during her long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Amy Ledgerwood of Olathe allowed her to remain at home with Bob from 2009 thru 2012. She also spent time at Vintage Park of Gardner, Homestead Memory Care of Olathe, Pinnacle Ridge of Olathe and Bickford Mary B’s of Overland Park. Crossroads Hospice also provided her extra loving care for over a year. She put up a valiant fight against her terrible disease for over 13 years and she will be forever remembered as the amazing mother and grandmother that she was.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, December 13 at the First Presbyterian Church, 138 E. Shawnee, Gardner, Kan 66030. Burial follows at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, Kan. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Monday, December 12, 2016 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kan66030 913-856-7111.
