The Gardner Edgerton School District Theatre Department will present “Seussical the Musical!” at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 12. The USD231 employee night is scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Gardner Edgerton High School Performing Arts Center.
“Seussical the Musical!” follows the characters of famous Dr. Seuss favorite stories, “The Cat in the Hat,” “Horton Hears a Who”, and “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” as they come alive together to help both Horton and a young “Who” named JoJo find they are not alone in the universe.
In addition to these performances, the GEHS Theatre Department is excited to be one of the first high schools in the nation to produce a special Autism-friendly performance.  The special matinee performance is scheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, November 13.  This performance will be slightly altered in which the environment will adapt to autistic audience members. The lights will not be lowered, the music will be muted, and an interactive story book will be provided for Autistic audience members so they may follow along with the storyline.
This type of special performance was first performed by “The Lion King” cast on Broadway in 2011, and the University of Kansas Lied Center is producing their first Autism-friendly production this fall.
Tickets are $7 at the door. For more information, contact Jeff Lady, GEHS Theatre Director at 913.856.2653, [email protected]
