A first round 6A sub-state loss to Olathe South ended the season for Coach Alexandria Fitzmorris and her Blazer varsity volleyball team.
The Blazers lost by scores of 21-25, 25-19, and 25-18 to South in a Regional played at Olathe North.
The Blazers were led offensively by Kyla Shappell with 14 kills and two blocks, Haylei Bell (10 kills and three kills), Courtney Wheeler (five kills) and Morgan McIntire (four kills).
Defensively, Macy Koetters led the way with ten digs and 22 serve receptions. McIntire, Shappell and Lauren Highfill had five digs apiece.
Maddy Linden had 33 assists on 93 attempts, two kills, two blocks and an ace.
The loss failed to overshadow an outstanding year for the Blazers. The squad tripled their win total from last years, won a tournament and took second in two other tournaments.
“We had an absolutely spectacular year,” said Fitzmorris. “They have laid the foundation for the future of the program.”
