The Gardner council’s Oct. 17 decision to leave the Gardner Senior Center’s name the same was a good one; as was the recent renovation.
Although there had been some discussion regarding changing the center’s name, the council opted to leave it basically unchanged — simplified from Gardner Senior Citizen Community Center to Gardner Senior Center.
Renovating the center took about 6 months and included updates to the flooring, kitchen and HVAC systems. The project was funded with a Community Development Block Grant. The building was originally constructed in 1964.
The building is used for senior meals and also is available for meetings and community events.
