elevate-edgerton-logoIn September Edgerton’s city council, voted to form an Economic Development Task Force to create an Edgerton-focused public-private economic development organization.
Edgerton was joined on the task force by several business and utility partners committed to the advancement of economic development in Edgerton. At its first meeting, the task force unanimously agreed to name the organization, ElevateEdgerton! Partnership for Economic Advancement and approved the strategic direction for the partnership.
“Edgerton continues to look for creative and innovative ways to elevate the long-term economic vitality of Edgerton, and this organization is no exception,” said Donald Roberts, mayor and task force chair. ElevateEdgerton! will proactively advocate for the economic advancement of the Edgerton community by initiating programs and services to attract and retain business, encourage diverse development by partnering with allies and ensure Edgerton stays a pro-business community.
The task force has engaged Smart Solutions Group, Inc. (SSG) to perform of an economic assessment profile, develop an initial business plan for the organization and conduct an executive search for the recruitment of President/CEO. SSG has over 80 years of experience working with local, state and utility entities in economic development, specializing in creation of new economic development agencies.
“Recruitment of the industry’s best and brightest talent to lead this new organization will be one of the most important roles for the Task Force,” said Allan Soetaert, task force vice chair.
ElevateEdgerton! will be located at the Learning & Career Center at Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC). The task force will be meeting regularly to work aggressively towards being operational by early 2017.
