The monthly meeting of Prairie Star 4H club kicked the 2016-2017 4H year off with a potluck meal, installation of officers and new guests on Oct. 10 at the Gardner Fairgrounds in Gardner.
The club was fortunate to welcome new guests, Heather and Abby Roy of Gardner along with Savannah Powers, Yvette Powers, Ashlynn Powers and Alex Powers. Alli and Mason Butler, Charli and Gavin McGill, Nolan and William Quinn, Acy VanRheen and Bayleigh Russell welcomed the guests by participating in a presentation that offered more about 4H and the positive experiences that 4H can offer to our guests.
The club also installed new officers for the upcoming 4H year with a 1980’s retro-candy officer installation ceremony. The officers for the year that were inducted are: Lauren Molenda as President, Brady Russell as Vice President, Kinsey McCormick as Secretary, Elly VanRheen as Parliamentarian, Kara McCormick as Treasurer, Alli Butler as Reporter, Acy VanRheen as Corresponding Secretary, Charli McGill as Historian, Mason Butler, Nolan Quinn and Gavin McGill as our Song leaders and Bayleigh Russell and William Quinn as our Recreation leaders.
Song leaders handed out newly printed song books for the club to utilize during the meetings that are full of fun songs to choose from. The evening’s selection was On Top of Spaghetti , and the entire club participated in the fun. Club leaders reminded members of upcoming events and dates that included: Online enrollment, and the club was encouraged to enroll by Nov. 1, 4H Achievement night is scheduled for Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. and to RSVP to the extension office by Oct. 28, Haunted hayride by the Spring Hill Rustlers on Oct. 23 from 5:30-9 p.m. at 21330 Renner Road in Spring Hill, and the club was urged to attend for a great night of friends and fun, annual Gardner “Make a Difference Day” is on Oct. 22 9:30-11:30 and to let Bert Molenda know if you can attend, new family orientation is on Oct. 29 from 9:30-11 at the extension office along with the project fair. The meeting ended with a crazy game of “Capture the Flag” and Alli Butler, Charli and Gavin McGill showing off their past visual arts project during the project spotlight.
The next meeting is scheduled on Nov.14 at 7 p.m. at the Gardner Fairgrounds, and the club always welcoming new guests.
