A late fourth quarter touchdown spelled down for the Blazers in a tough 28-21 loss at Mill Valley last Friday night.
GEHS led 21-20, but saw Valley score in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter to escape with victory.
Valley, the defending 5A state champions, took control early leading 10-7 after one quarter and 17-14 at halftime.
Back came the Blazers thanks to a 16 yard touchdown run by quarterback Griffin Johns. That put GEHS up 21-20 and set the stage for Valley’s late game heroics.

Cameron Young did the honors crashing in from 14 yards to seal the verdict.
The loss failed to overshadow a top performance from Johns, who tossed a 62 yard strike to Hunter Skeens and also ran for a 16 yard touchdown. Jesse May accounted for the Blazers often score finding pay dirt from six yards out.
The loss left GEHS at 3-5 record while the Jags ended a four game losing streak and went to 4-4.
GEHS now gets set to play Olathe Northwest in the opening round of playoffs.
